An indulgent experience and a delicious hot drink Mar 25, 2009
We received our first Intentional Chocolate as a gift. My husband brought it home and told me about the special "ingredient" (good intentions!), then let me experiment with it.
My husband has quite a bit of interest in esoteric philosophy, meditation, and spirituality. I'm not nearly so learned, but I tend to be open-minded.
We did the "try it for three days" experiment with the hot chocolate. On my first day/cup, I had a sensation as though a tulip-shaped flower opened on the top of my head. (My husband told me that corresponds to some concept of a chakra--I forget the details.) Nothing so profound on the other days, but the entire experience was very positive, I would say I enjoyed somewhat better-than-average moods in that timeframe, and I really liked drinking the hot chocolate.
Having also tried milk chocolate pistoles, dark chocolate pistoles, and white chocolate pistoles, I find the process of preparing the hot chocolate to elevate the experience of consuming it. The directions allow for making it with hot water or hot milk, but I always use milk, so I can't comment on the alternate preparation. The taste compares favorably to other "real" chocolate drinks--i.e., this isn't the readily dissolving mainstream stuff that's hydrogenated or mixed with some kind of oil to make it super-smooth. You'll want to keep your spoon and stir periodically as you drink.
I bought a large bag (40 oz?) after I finished the first small pouch from our gift package. I don't mind spending more on nice food, but this was definitely expensive enough to be an indulgence item for me. I don't regret it, and I love sharing Intentional Chocolate with friends as a special treat.
